Glasgow restaurants pick up top awards at Asian Curry Awards 2020

Glasgow restaurants have picked up top gongs at this year's prestigious Asian Curry Awards.

Over 700 VIP guests attended the Asian hospitality sector’s event at the Grosvenor House in London’s Mayfair on Sunday, with Mayor of London Sadiq Khan the guest of honour.

Mushtaqs in Hamilton picked up one of the biggest awards of the night, and was named Takeaway of the Year for the Scotland category.

The restaurant's owner, Ajmal Mushtaq, also picked up the male Entrepreneur of the Year accolade.

Meanwhile, Muhammed Sultan who runs Charcoals in Glasgow's city centre, received the Social Responsibility of the Year award for Scotland.

Charcoals also received a highly commended accolade for the coveted Asian Restaurant of the Year award.

Ashish Sharma of Charcoals Cafe also picked up the Best Maitre'd award.

Chairman of the Asian Catering Federation, which hosts the Awards, congratulated the winners, but warned them not to rest on their laurels.

He said: "We work in a dynamic, fast developing sector where customers’ dining habits are constantly evolving."  He also encouraged them to embrace change and welcome the challenges.

Massive congrats to the winners on an incredible achievement!
