A Glasgow restaurant serves up one of the very best vegan kebabs in the UK according to PETA.
The animal rights organisation has compiled a list of the top 10 across the country and has found a spot for West Nile Street's 'Babs restaurant alongside other food venues in the likes of Manchester, Leeds and London.
PETA director of Vegan Corporate Projects Dawn Carr said of the city centre eatery: "The vegan steak at Babs delivers a moreish meaty flavour with zero cruelty", while PETA continued: "'Babs' gourmet grilled delights include the vegan steak shish – which is served with beetroot hummus, paprika rice, shredded lettuce, coal-grilled aubergine, red-pepper ajvar, and house pickles – and a vegan steak skewer."
'Babs closed its doors this week on account of the coronavirus crisis, but it's hoped it will open up once more when the lockdown has lifted.
PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that "animals are not ours to eat" – says: "Everyone who goes vegan spares the lives of nearly 200 animals every year, including gentle sheep, who can recognise dozens of individuals from photographs and be calmed in a nerve-wracking situation by seeing a photograph of a friend."
