An all-Japanese cocktail has landed in Glasgow city centre, which comes complete with a sushi garnish.
Creative bar staff at Benihana - the Asian steakhouse on West Nile Street which opened earlier this year - have crafted a new concoction which offers up something a little different.
The 'Omakase' cocktail - Japanese for "I'll leave it up to you" - is packed full of Far Eastern flavour with ingredients including toasted rice foam, rye whiskey Infused with blackened seaweed, punt y mes and marashino.
Yet the quirk of this particular beverage is the sushi garnish, certainly a first for a Glasgow cocktail.
Benihana have recently introduced a whole new range of Japan-inspired cocktails in collaboration with The Cocktail Professor including the ‘Hanabi’, ‘Toro’, ‘Shi-Jito', 'Sakura' and ‘Omakase’.
A spokesperson for the restaurant told Glasgow Live: "The new beverage collection complements the playful and energetic style and experience Benihana embraces, by creating a unique drinking experience that tickles the five senses.
"Using expressive Japanese flavour combinations and small theatrical rituals surrounding the drinks, the new menu takes inspiration from Japanese culture and cuisine, presenting it with an extravagant modern ‘Rocky Aioki’ twist."
