Glasgow restaurant Five March ban no shows as they beg 'please don't be that guy'

A popular restaurant in Glasgow's Park Circus area has hit out at no-show customers as hospitality tentatively begins to reopen.

Five March, located on Elderslie Street in the west end, took to Instagram to make the plea for support after eight bookings failed to show up or cancel their reservation yesterday.

They wrote in a post previously they will be banning no-show bookings from the system and also added that this week they have kept their promise.

Bosses at the eatery wrote: "A little Thursday night reminder for you guys - PLEASE show up for your bookings or call us to let us know you can't make it.

"Today we had 8 tables that didn’t show, not even giving us the courtesy of a 15 second phone call to let us know.

"As promised in our post last week, the people that booked these tables have now, unfortunately, been banned from our system.

"We were fully booked for your time slots. Other people wanted in. Please don't be that guy."

After the first weekend of re-opening, Five March took to social media writing "our hearts are full for this city" - but warned that they would be taking a hard-line approach against pesky no-shows and asked for respect from customers.

Despite this they still refused to take debit card details as they said "we chose to think that folk are great".

Heartbreakingly, they added their "hands are tied, we have some serious debts to pay off."

Bosses said: "We’re so excited we could pop. We hope you are too!

"It’s been the most challenging year, so on behalf of all in our trade we’d like ask that multiple bookings and no shows are no longer a reality that we’re expected to accept.

"We don’t ask for card details and deposits because we chose to think that folk are great and the majority are! If prior notice isn’t given of a table cancellation we will block the info used to make the booking. Which means you will unable to book again without paying a non refundable deposit.

"Hands are tied, we have some serious debts to pay off, please respect."

Last week we reported how a bar and restaurant in Milngavie hit back at a one-star review left by a visitor who complained that their outdoor seating area was ‘rainy and cold’, urging the public to 'be kind to hospitality' as pubs, cafes and restaurants reopen for business again.
