Glasgow residents could be paying £6 for a pint in 2030 as cost of living soars

Glaswegians could be paying £6 a pint in 2030 amid soaring living costs.

New data by broker Admiral Markets has analysed how rising inflation rates could affect the price of a pint in the next eight years.

They have calculated what people in cities across the UK could be shelling out for a lager both against the inflation rate rising by 5.4% (the current inflation rate) and 7.25% (as predicted to reach by Spring 2022).

With the average cost of a pint in Glasgow setting you back £3.88, that could rise to £5.91 in 2030 under the current inflation rate or an eyewatering £6.79 if the inflation rate rises to 7.25%.

It could be worse for Glaswegians, given the fact that, according to Admiral Markets, the city is - and will be in 2030 - among the cheapest places for a pint in the UK, with residents in 16 other cities paying more for them on average.

And spare a thought for folk living in Edinburgh, with the data suggesting that they will be paying between £7.77 or £8.93 for their pints in 2030.

In terms of the 25 most expensive cities in the UK for a pint, only Sheffield, Coventry, Leeds, Aberdeen, Plymouth, Kingston upon Hull, Stoke-on-Trent, Cardiff and Leicester were cheaper.
