Glasgow resident films alleged carjackers 'making getaway after targeting vehicles in street'

Video footage shows two alleged carjackers fleeing a Glasgow street after 'stealing exhaust pipes in broad daylight'.

One resident who lives in the Dennistoun street filmed the two men after he claims he watched them nick exhaust pipes from neighbours motors on Saturday afternoon.

In the video the two men can be seen standing outside a stationary vehicle behind parked cars.

One of the men in the video is wearing an orange Hi Vis vest, a hat and a face mask.

He can be seen lifting equipment and putting it in the back seat before jumping into the car.

The other man is wearing dark coloured clothing, a hat and a face mask.

He can be seen carrying something to the boot of the car.

A third man behind the wheel speeds off with the two passengers.

Cops have launched a probe after catalytic converters were stolen from two cars in the area.

One man whose car was targeted on Whitehill Place, Dennistoun, was informed of the incident by his neighbour when he returned home from work.

He told the Record: "In an ironic kind of way it's actually quite funny. My car failed its MOT on the catalytic converter last week so the joke is on them.

"I was shocked by the way they were just cutting about in broad daylight doing it in front of everyone.

"They obviously think they'll get away with it - hopefully they get caught.

"I've lived in the area for nine years and have never really seen anything like that happen. I have heard of it happening but never knew anyone it happened to."

The man urged anyone with information to contact police.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "On Saturday, 27 February, 2021, we received reports that a catalytic converter was stolen from a car on Sword Street and a second car on Whitehill Place, Glasgow.

"Enquiries into the incidents are ongoing."
