Glasgow reconfirms its status as a Euro 2020 host city

Glasgow has reconfirmed its status as a Euro 2020 host city amid reports that UEFA chiefs are considering cutting the number of venues for the postponed tournament.

Hampden Park will be able to host rearranged Euro 2020 matches next summer, the organising committee for the tournament has confirmed.

It comes after UEFA president Alexander Ceferin admitted that three of the 12 confirmed hosts are experiencing "issues" over the event - which will now be held next year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But Glasgow officials have sought to end speculation over the city's position by issuing a statement to confirm they remain committed to staging games at Hampden Park.

Local Organising Committee Glasgow said: "We look forward to Hampden Park, Glasgow and Scotland as a whole playing a key role as co-hosts of a memorable UEFA Euro 2020 next year."

UEFA has been notified in writing that Scotland's largest city will fulfil its commitment to hold three group games and one last-16 tie.
