Glasgow reacts to Sajid Javid announcing he 'won't allow a second Scottish independence referendum'

Sajid Javid yesterday announced on Twitter that if he is elected as prime minister, he will not allow a second Scottish referendum on independence.

The tweet read: "If I become PM, I won’t allow a second Scottish independence referendum. People stated views clearly in 2014, so there should be no second vote. Nicola Sturgeon should spend more time improving public services in Scotland, and less time grandstanding."

But Glasgow had some things to say about his statement - and did it in a way that only the city can.

The hashtag #PermissionFromSajid is now trending in the city, with thousands chipping in to ask Sajid permission before cracking on with their plans.

The Thornwood Bar's Twitter even got in on the action, responding to the Home Secretary's tweet with "Evening Sajid, is it ok if we open the kitchen until 9pm on Saturday for the Champions league final?"

But they're far from the only ones to jump on the bandwagon.

Some even got The Proclaimers involved in the whole affair...

This poor dog just wanted to help with the dishes.

SNP MP Mhairi Black also got in on the action.

Meanwhile, poor Steve Clarke may not be getting the Scotland job after all...

So how does Glasgow really feel about Sajid Javid's announcement? We'll let you decide...
