Glasgow ranked one of top 10 best cities in UK to get a good night's sleep

Glasgow has been named as one of the top 10 best cities in the UK to get a good night's sleep in a new study.

The study, conducted by sleep and mattress experts Dormeo, analysed the most important factors that impact sleep, including noise, light pollution, and commuter traffic.

It also broke down residents who exercise 2.5+ hours a week, average minutes commuting to work each morning, and rates of noise levels of 40dB per night.

The findings saw Glasgow ranked 7th out of 22 cities for sleep duration and 6th for wellbeing in the study. However, the city was ranked lower for environmental, overall sleep, and physical health.

The city ranked lower in the table for fitness; the data showed that 58% of residents exercise 2.5 or more hours a week.

Data also showed that residents in Glasgow are getting on average 6.56 hours of sleep every night. This could be due to Glasgow’s low levels of noise at night.

Additionally, Glaswegians have an average commute time of 21.2 minutes per morning.

Residents in London were found to have the poorest sleep quality, with the average person only getting 6.33 hours of sleep every night. London also had the highest average commute time, with the everyday Londoner travelling 39.5 minutes every morning.
