Glasgow rail disruption due to broken down train at Rutherglen

A broken down train at Rutherglen is leading to disruption across the Glasgow rail network.

ScotRail confirmed the Glasgow Central Station to Edinburgh via Shotts service has been affected, with disruption expected to last until at least 5pm.

The rail operator confirmed: "A broken down train in the Rutherglen area is causing disruption to our services from Glasgow Central to Edinburgh via Shotts and also Lanark.

"We’re diverting some Glasgow Central – Lanark services via the Cathcart Circle where we can, to get around the blocked line at Rutherglen.

"If you’re travelling between Glasgow & Edinburgh, please use services to/from Glasgow Queen Street High and Low Levels if you can, to avoid the disruption on our Glasgow Central – Edinburgh via Shotts route."

For all updates on ScotRail services, follow the rail operator across its social media channels.
