Glasgow Queen Street trains disrupted by burst water main

Trains due to travel to and from Glasgow Queen Street have been disrupted by a burst water main, ScotRail have advised.

As a result there will be no services between Queen Street and Anniesland - National Rail say delays and cancellations are expected until 7pm, due to the incident which has taken place at Cowlairs.

However as it stands, trains from Glasgow to Edinburgh and vice versa have also been affected.

ScotRail have Tweeted: "We have had reports of burst water main near the railway in the Cowlairs area affecting services towards Glasgow Queen Street.", before issuing an update to confirm: "Services between Queen St and Anniesland are suspended.

"We have ticket acceptance for Glasgow, Ashfield, Possilpark & Parkhouse, Gilshochill, Summerston, Maryhill, Kelvindale, Anniesland - 6/A, 7/A, 8/A, 60/A, 61, 75, 90."

The disruptions are likely to throw some commuters into travel chaos as they look to get away from work quickly ahead of the bank holiday weekend.
