Glasgow Queen Street lines reopened after reports of smoke detected in tunnel

Glasgow Queen Street has reopened train lines after smoke was detected in a tunnel in the station this afternoon.

Bosses wrote on social media that train services were being delayed or revised as a 'problem currently under investigation'.

A spokesperson for Scotrail confirmed that smoke was reported to be detected in the tunnel, but Network rail said upon investigation no issues were found.

Although the line has reopened, some services are delayed or revised so passengers are reminded to check before they make their journey.

A Scotrail spokesperson said: "The line has reopened and services have resumed as normal, although there may be some delays and possible changes.

"The incident of smoke in the tunnel is being investigated but the line is reopened again".

A spokesman for Network Rail told Glasgow Live: "The route control manager got in touch.

"He confirmed services were stopped and smoke was reported from the tunnel by a driver at 1pm

"We stopped trains, inspected tunnel and no fire was found. There was no danger no issues and the line was reopened at 2pm."
