PUBS in Glasgow have been given permission to stay open later during King Charles' coronation weekend.
Glasgow City Council's licensing board has granted a one-hour extension to licenced premises across the city, excluding casinos, during the May bank holiday weekend.
King Charles's coronation will take place on Saturday, May 6, at Westminster Abbey in London.
During the ceremony, the King will be crowned alongside Camilla, the Queen Consort.
On May 6 and 7, pubs across Glasgow will be able to keep their doors open until 1am instead of 12am.
Meanwhile, bars and nightclubs in the city centre will shut at 4am instead of 3am, and venues outwith the city centre have been permitted to open until 3am instead of 2am.
A statement on the council website read: "In respect of the King's Coronation celebrations, the Licensing Board has determined to grant a general extension of one additional licensed hour beyond the terminal hour to all licensed premises with an on-sales facility on the following dates:
- The evening of Saturday, May 6, into the early hours of Sunday, May 7, 2023; and
- The evening of Sunday, May 7, into the early hours of Monday, May 8, 2023."
It is up to each venue to decide whether or not to extend their opening hours.
