Glasgow pub The Old Govan Arms closes after customer tests positive for coronavirus

Glasgow pub The Old Govan Arms has been forced to close after a customer tested positive for coronavirus.

The pub, on Govan Road, confirmed news of the temporary closure via a Facebook post this afternoon, and will undergo a Covid deep clean tonight with a view to reopening in the coming days.

Bosses say that while they were not asked to close by NHS Track & Trace, they have taken the "cautious decision" to do so for the safety of their customers.

The pub will undertake a deep clean tonight, with the hope to reopen in the next few days.

The Facebook post read: "In light of recent news that one of our customers has tested positive for Covid-19 we have taken a cautious decision on our own to close the pub as of immediate effect.

We have contacted NHS Track & Trace and are awaiting guidance on what the steps are going forward. We have not been advised as yet to close but we think for the safety of customers until we know more its in the best interest for everyone.

"The premise will undertake a COVID deep clean tonight and hopefully following guidelines we will be able to open back up in the coming days."
