Glasgow pub shuts doors after customer tests positive for coronavirus

A popular Glasgow eatery has decided to close for a deep clean after a customer tested positive for coronavirus.

The Kirkhouse Bar and Kitchen was visited by a punter last Thursday who has since been confirmed as having Covid-19.

Management have decided to temporarily close to allow for a thorough cleaning and to allow for their staff to be tested.

The bar hopes to reopen by the weekend (Facebook)

In a statement, the Shettleston-based business said: “We would like to notify customers that we have been informed today that a customer who visited us last Thursday evening has tested positive for Covid19.

“We are contacting the relevant party to inform them of the situation and to contact the government track and trace program.

“Although the guidelines state we do not need to close the premises, we have taken the decision to temporarily close in order to deep clean the bar in full and have our staff tested.

“We are awaiting further communication from the council and will take any further action necessary, based on their feedback.

“Safety of our staff and customers is priority and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to those customers who are due to visit us over the next few days.

“We will aim to reopen at the weekend should all staff tests return negative.

Our team will be contacting those customers who have booked over the next few days to inform them. Thank you for your continued support.”
