Glasgow pub blasted over 'shockingly vile' coronavirus Facebook post

A popular Glasgow bar has been attacked over a 'shockingly vile' social media post concerning the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The now deleted post was published on the Facebook page of The Underground, a popular spot in the Merchant City area regarded as 'one of Glasgow's friendliest gay bars'.

It depicted a cartoon with the title 'If Adam and Eve had been Chinese' and shows a man and woman cooking a serpent over an open fire in the Garden of Eden after it asked them if they wanted an apple - with God giving them the thumbs up.

The bar shared the cartoon with various face mask emojis, with the post remaining on The The Underground's Facebook page for over 24 hours before being deleted.

One irate pub-goer who saw the post shared it on Twitter and said: "Why a Glasgow gay bar (The Undergound) thinks that this is at all appropriate to post at a time like this - or at all - is shockingly vile. Racism is not a good business model".

The Undergound Bar has been approached for comment.
