Glasgow primary school 'stranger danger' warning after man spotted 'hanging around' school gates

Police were called to a Glasgow primary school after a man was reportedly spotted lurking outside.

Parents at Hillington Primary School raised the alarm after the male was seen hanging around near the school premises.

It is alleged parents became concerned after seeing him several times in one week.

Glasgow City Council said police had been informed and after an investigation confirmed that no criminality had taken place.

Pupils will now receive advice on stranger danger.

A spokesman for Glasgow City Council added: "In response to these reports, a letter is being sent to carers/parents advising them that the school’s teachers have reiterated the stranger danger message to pupils, and asking that this message be discussed at home and that normal vigilance continues when dropping off and picking up children at school."

Community police officers will be at the school at 3pm today to discuss any further concerns that parents may have.
