Glasgow power cut: Hundreds of homes affected in east end and north of city

A power cut has left hundreds of homes in Glasgow without electricity.

A large area of the north of the city and a number of east end neighbourhoods have been affected.

SP Energy Networks advised they are working on restoring electricity, with the power cut hitting homes in G21 and G31 postcode areas.

As per their latest update, they hope power will be fully restored by 4.45pm this afternoon.

SP Energy Networks confirmed: "There is power cut in the G21 and G31 postcode areas of Glasgow. We had no advance warning of this and only became aware of it at 2.46pm.

"Our control centre will attempt to reset the network remotely to restore power in stages, and we will also send our next available engineer to attend site. Our team will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 5pm. Once they arrive, or when we receive any update regarding the cause, we will be able to provide you with more information.

"We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. This message was updated at 2:53pm on Monday, 28 June 2021."
