Glasgow police warning to parents as 23 kids 'lifted' in single weekend

Glasgow parents and carers have been issued with a warning after more than 20 kids were lifted in the city centre.

Police took to the unusual step of issuing the warning after officers working in the city centre returned a total of 23 youths to their home addresses last weekend.

Greater Glasgow Police Division confirmed via social media that they were also required to take some of the youngsters to addresses outwith the Greater Glasgow Division area.

They said that the vast majority of those hanging about the city centre are "are well behaved and not causing any criminality", but they added that such gatherings can lead to an "escalation" in anti-social behaviour.

They wrote: "We appreciate that young people want to socialise and gather and the vast majority are well behaved and not causing any criminality. However, we do also recognise that the presence of a large number of people, of any age, can cause concern for communities and anti-social behaviour can easily escalate in these situations."

They are also reminding Glasgow parents and carers to be aware where their children are, who they are with and what they are doing on the weekends.
