Glasgow police shut down Eglinton Street by Bridge Street subway station in response to crash

Police have shut down a key road by the River Clyde in response to a crash.

Eglinton Street is currently closed in both directions by Bridge Street subway station in the Laurieston area.

Glasgow City Council advised of the closure shortly after 9am.

The nature of the crash is unknown at this stage and Glasgow Live have contacted Police Scotland for comment.

Glasgow City Council's Traffic and Control Management team (TRAFFCOM) advised: "Due to an earlier road traffic collision, Eglinton Street is closed in both directions between Cook Street and Nelson Street/Norfolk Street.

"Follow Police direction for diversions."

UPDATE: A Police Scotland spokesperson has confirmed: "Around 8.45am on Wednesday, 6 October, police were called to a serious road crash in Eglinton Street, Glasgow.

"Emergency services are in attendance and Eglinton Street is currently closed at Wallace Street.

"Enquiries are continuing."

Glasgow City Council have advised at 10:20am, "Eglinton Street is now closed in both directions between Cumberland Street and Nelson Street/Norfolk Street."
