Glasgow police search after report creep tried to lure teen girl into car with money

A police search has been carried out in the Cardonald area of Glasgow amid reports of a man in a car acting suspiciously towards a teenage girl.

The man is reported to have tried to lure the youngster into his vehicle by offering sums of money, having first asked for directions to Penilee, before making lewd comments towards her.

Officers searched an area of Berryknowes Road near to Cardonald train station after receiving the report around 10:15pm on Monday (November 29), but found no trace of the vehicle or the man in question.

Community group No1Seems2Care took to Facebook to warn locals to please stay vigilant in the area, while sharing a post from the girl's mother about the alleged incident.

It read: "My daughter is 16. We live in the Cardonald area. She was coming from work tonight passing by Cardonald train station at the flats. A car was parked in the path, he then put his window down when my daughter was passing asked her the way to Penilee. She tried to give directions then he asked her where she was coming from, does she stay in the area.

"He then offered her £20 to get in his car for her to show him where Penilee was, she said no. He offered £40, she said no. He offered £60 then £100. At this point my daughter is extremely uncomfortable, It’s pitch black outside and there isn’t a soul. He told her how sexy she looked, she started to walk away. In a panic she phoned her friend then she called me.

"All she got was it was a grey corsa and he was wearing one of the bright yellow work jackets.

"It was in the Cardonald area this happened just after the Cardonald train station heading towards Morrisons."

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Around 10.15pm on Monday, 29 November, police received a report of a man in a car acting suspiciously, in the Berryknowes Road area of Glasgow.

"Officers searched the area but found no trace. No criminality was established and suitable advice was provided.”
