Glasgow police probe after pensioner seriously injured in Bridgeton blade attack

A pensioner has been seriously injured after being attacked with a 'bladed weapon' in Glasgow.

The violent assault took place at a premises on London Road near to Orr Street in the Bridgeton area of the city.

Police and emergency services raced to the scene after the alarm was raised around 7:15pm last night (Monday).

The victim, a 65-year-old man, was rushed by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to his injuries, the Daily Record reports.

His present condition is unknown.

Police have launched an enquiry into the circumstances surrounding the attack.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At 7.15pm on Monday, March 28, officers were called to a report of a 65-year-old man having been seriously assaulted with a bladed weapon at a premises on London Road, near to Orr Street, Glasgow.

"The man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary to be treated for his injuries. Enquiries are ongoing.”
