Glasgow police officer calls for support after being pursued by 'drone' - that was actually a planet

Well folks, we thought we'd heard it all and then something happens that blows everything out the water...

A rookie Glasgow police officer called in help from her fellow officers after being pursued for miles through the city by a drone, only to be told that the suspect aerial object 'following her' was actually a planet - Jupiter to be exact.

The largest planet in our solar system - located some 365 million miles from Earth - must have been shining pretty bright to warrant (if you'll excuse the pun) the concerns of the officer this past Tuesday night (July 13).

According to the Daily Record, the cop attempted (and failed) to shake free of the planet that was on her tail as she headed towards Glasgow Fort shopping centre - calling the general Police Scotland complaints number to flag her predicament.

On return to her police station, a senior officer is reported to have explained to her that the 'drone' following her car was in fact the fifth planet from the sun - a planet which if often visible on a clear night.

A police source told the paper: “The story is the talk of the steamie at her station. Nobody can quite believe it. She was very alarmed and spooked that she was being followed by a drone.

“Everyone was quite concerned so you can imagine the red face and embarrassment felt when it was pointed out that the bright light following her was a planet millions of miles away.

“This is going to haunt her for years.”

We hope she isn't feeling too bogged down by the gravity of the situation she found herself in!
