Glasgow police launch investigation into Firhill Road 'disturbance' after football fans 'clash'

Police have launched an investigation into a 'disturbance' in the north of Glasgow yesterday afternoon.

Officers are investigating the incident that took place in the Firhill Road area of the city at around 4.50pm on Saturday.

The Daily Record shared reports of football fans 'clashing' outside of Firhill Stadium where Partick Thistle hosted Airdrieonians in a Scottish Cup tie.

A video circulating online purports to show the two sets of fans fighting in the streets surrounding the ground before kick off.

Police are now probing the shock incident and say there were no injuries sustained during the disturbance.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing following a disturbance in the Firhill Road area of Glasgow that happened around 4.50pm on Saturday, 22 January.

"No one was injured and officers are carrying out an investigation to establish the full circumstances and identify those involved."

The Glasgow side progressed to the next round of the Scottish Cup following a 1-0 victory.
