Glasgow police charge 14-year-old boy after hoax bomb threat to school prompts evacuation

A teenage boy has been charged after a hoax call caused the evacuation of a school.

The malicious call was made to Corpus Christi School in the Knightswood area on Wednesday morning.

Police were called to the scene and pupils were evacuated as a search was carried out in conjunction with council staff.

Children attending the school were then allowed to return to their classrooms following the all-clear.

Officers have confirmed that a 14-year-old boy has been charged in connection with making the call that caused 'considerable disruption and alarm to the general public'.

Police Scotland have also said they're following a 'positive line' on enquiry in relation to a malicious call made to St Thomas Aquinas School on Thursday.

Pupils were forced to evacuate the building and had to be sent home while the second call was investigated. They were then allowed to return to the building later in the day.

Chief Inspector Paul Douglas said: “We takes hoax calls extremely seriously and will exhaust all avenues in tracing those responsible. They divert police resources and cause considerable disruption and alarm to the general public.”
