Glasgow police: Car deliberately mows down woman leaving her injured in street

Police were scrambled to Penilee in the early hours of the morning after a woman was mown down by a car.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Gleddoch Road after reports the 19-year-old woman was lying injured on the street.

She was then rushed to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. Medics this morning describe her condition as stable.

Police have confirmed the shock attack as deliberate and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward as they look to trace the suspect.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.10am on Wednesday, 21 July, a 19-year-old woman was injured when a car was deliberately driven at her in Gleddoch Road, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. Medical staff describe her condition as stable.

“Enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver of the vehicle and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 0030 of Wednesday, 21 July, 2021. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
