Glasgow police ask Scotland fans not to pee in gardens near Hampden ahead of game

Police in Glasgow have issued an appeal to Scotland FC fans not to relieve themselves in the gardens of those living near Hampden Park.

Thousands of Tartan Army supporters will descend on Scotland's national stadium tonight to cheer on Steve Clarke's side as they take on Armenia in their UEFA Nations League Group stage 2022/23 tie.

And the encounter has prompted Glasgow South East Police Division to tell fans to 'respect' the local community.

In a tweet officers reminded those heading to the game on foot that 'the plants don't need watering' - while sharing a photograph of some men urinating in the garden of a tenement block.

It read: "Heading to Hampden to watch the Scotland game tonight? Enjoy, but remember, the plants don't need watering! Please respect our local community."

It comes after ScotRail urged fans heading to Scotland's national stadium to consider their travel options after the operator was forced to cut a number of services.

Kick off is at 7.45pm tonight but the last train from Mount Florida, the national stadium's closet station, back to Glasgow Central leaves before the final whistle.

ScotRail said there will also be very limited services departing from Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen Street after the match, with no trains available on most routes out of the city centre.
