Glasgow pizzeria Nonna Said pokes fun at Salt Bae with limited edition 23 Carat gold pizza

A top pizzeria in Glasgow is poking fun at Salt Bae with the launch of a new limited-edition pizza that comes complete with 23-carat gold leaves and is priced at under a tenner.

Nonna Said, which is based in Merchant City, has been a big hit with pizza fans since it opened in May and its latest creation, The Gold Digger, is sure to prove a winner once again.

Poking fun at now infamous celebrity chef Salt Bae’s recently trending Giant Tomahawk Steak, which is coated in edible gold and comes in at a staggering £630, the pizza specialists are offering their gold-flaked special at just £6.30.

Topped with basil alongside 23-carat edible gold leaves and gold crust dust, it's a mere 1% of the price of the famous London Tomahawk.

Running this Friday and Saturday only (November 5 and 6), head chef Ross Hunter said: "We’re bringing luxury to the masses with our Gold Digger. There’s no need to dig that deep into your pocket to enjoy good food!”

Popular for its unorthodox pizza and cocktail creations, they've become known for their brilliant creations, including the Buckfast-fuelled McHangover Meal Deal.

Recently launching a brand-new cocktail menu, the team is offering additions like the So Refresh, So Clean - which features Havana Especial, RinQuinQuin peach liqueur, lemon, raspberry sherbet syrup, cranberry juice and comes with chewy refresher bar added to the mix.

Ross added: "Be quick if you want to try out our Gold Digger pizza. Once they’re gone, they’re gone!"
