Glasgow pensioner in serious condition after being hit by bus at entrance to Buchanan Bus Station

An elderly woman has been rushed to hospital in Glasgow after being hit by a bus.

The incident happened around 3:45pm on Thursday (October 7) outside the entrance to Buchanan Bus Station.

Police were alerted to the scene alongside the fire service and ambulance crews.

The woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she is believed to be in a serious condition.

Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a bus colliding with an elderly woman at Buchanan Bus Station, Glasgow, around 3.45pm on Thursday, 7 October.

"Emergency services attended including the fire service and ambulance service. The woman has been taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and is believed to be in a serious condition. Enquiries are ongoing."
