Glasgow pensioner dies after crashing into tree in horror smash

A pensioner has died after crashing into a tree in Glasgow.

Emergency services raced to Glasgow Road in the Garrowhill area of the city after the alarm was raised at around 8.20am on Sunday, April 24.

Officers received a report of the one-vehicle crash after the black Audi A3 came off the road and collided with a tree.

Ambulance crews attended and the 80-year-old driver was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Cops today confirmed that the OAP has now died from his injuries.

Police say their enquiries into the crash are ongoing and they are appealing for information from anyone who may have information.

Sergeant Douglas Scott, of the Glasgow Road Policing Unit, said: “At this time, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased following their tragic loss.

“As we continue our enquiries, I would urge anyone with information that could help with our investigation or any potential dashcam footage to please get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 939 of Sunday, April 24, 2022.
