Glasgow park taped off and pub closed after serious assault sparks police probe

A Glasgow park has been taped off and a pub was closed after a serious assault, sparking a police investigation.

Officers were called to Richmond Park at around 4.35pm on Monday.

A 25-year-old man had been attacked at the scene.

An area within the park, as well as the car park of the nearby Jenny Burn pub, was closed off by cops.

The man's current medical condition and the hospital he was taken to is yet to be confirmed.

Police are investigating the incident which is being treated as 'serious assault'.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Glasgow Live: “At round 4.35pm on Monday, July 11, 2022, police were called to a report of a serious assault near a premises at the Clyde Gateway in Glasgow.

"A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment and enquiries are ongoing.”

Jenny Burn chiefs released a statement confirming that the watering hole was closed.

It read: "Due to unforeseen circumstances we are closed for the rest of today.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

The pub has since re-opened.
