Glasgow paper closes after 14 years

Local News Glasgow, an independent free monthly, has closed after 14 years. Publisher-editor Grace Franklin could not generate sufficient advertising revenue to keep going.

Some 40,000 copies were distributed across Glasgow. The paper was written in the main by Franklin and several freelances

Interesting quote from Franklin: "If I had been a hard-nosed business person, I would have wrapped it up a long time ago. Towards the end, it was the love of it, rather than money, that kept it going."

How often do we hear that about newspaper businesses?
