Glasgow organisation to feed city's homeless with special brunch BBQ

A Glasgow-based organisation is hosting a special brunch to feed the city's homeless.

Homeless Street Team Glasgow's 'Big BBQ Brunch', will take place at George Square on June 22, with volunteers coming together to cook and share food with those in need.

The BBQ event will run from 11am to 3pm and those sleeping rough in the city will have the chance to enjoy a full breakfast.

There will also be food on the barbecue, plenty fresh fruit and drinks as well as entertainment and games.

Amidst the fun and excitement volunteers are hoping to raise much needed awareness for the number of homeless people sleeping out on Glasgow's streets.

The brunch is open to anyone in need and Homeless Street Team Glasgow are encouraging locals to donate food supplies ahead of the event.

Organiser Chris Halliday said: "If you'd like to become one of our funding partners, please get in touch as the organisation relies purely on the goodwill of our fellow Glaswegians.

"Your support would mean so very much and will be hugely appreciated."

He added: "If anyone could donate any food to help us with the event we would be very very grateful."
