Glasgow OAP badly shaken after thug follows her into her house and demands cash

Police have launched a hunt for a brazen raider who followed a woman in her 80s into her home in the southside of Glasgow.

They say the victim was left "badly shaken" after the ordeal which happened on Friday afternoon.

The pensioner was entering her home in Cathcart at 3.30pm when she noticed a man behind her.

He ushered her into the property and demanded cash.

It was only the fact that another person was in the house that caused him to flee.

The suspect was last seen on Struan Road, heading towards Kildary Road.

He is described as white, around 45 years old, 5ft 6in, of medium build with short dark hair. He was wearing a dark-coloured jacked and had a Scottish accent.

Detective Constable Suzy Walker of Glasgow's Community Investigation Unit said: "The woman was unhurt but, understandably, left badly shaken by this incident.

"As part of our investigation, we're urging anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour in the area to contact us. Likewise, anyone with information which could be relevant is urged to come forward."

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2621 of July 24.

Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
