Glasgow nightclub institution The Savoy teases announcement of Savoy Sundays return

With the news that Glasgow is now in level zero and nightclubs are opening up again down in England, there is one question on everybody's lips: when will they reopen here?

Well, for one Glasgow clubbing institution, the return might be sooner rather than later.

It was only last year that the Savoy nightclub celebrated their 45th anniversary, after throwing open the Sauchiehall Street doors back in April 1975.

They've been forced to remain closed like everywhere else for the last 16 months - but things look to be changing.

Savoy Glasgow posted an elusive picture on their Instagram last night of a Braveheart clad Mel Gibson declaring: "GUESS WHO'S (nearly) BACK!"

The club are teasing loyal fans with the hope of a new project on the horizon, and even a sneaky wee Savoy Sunday.

Savoy bosses wrote: "The wait is almost over. After 16 months of lockdown Savoy Nightclub is coming BACK.

"We're just waiting for government approval and we'll be back in touch as soon as it's official.

"We might even have an extra Savoy Sunday up our sleeve."

What's your best memories of Savoy Sunday's?
