Glasgow Night Shelter appeal to city's restaurants for hot food donations

The Glasgow Night Shelter have appealed for hot food donations from the city's restaurants and cafes.

The shelter, which provides year-round support and accommodation for asylum seekers, has recently had to move its residents into hotels in the city in response to the coronavirus crisis.

And on account of the Covid-19 lockdown, staff and volunteers are now providing 'socially distanced' meals, three times a day, as part of their overnight emergency service.

The charity has put out the shout on Facebook for donations of hot food, snacks and ready meals.

They said: "We are now settled into a hotel and facing up to the challenges of increasing our overnight emergency service to a socially-distanced 24hrs 3-meals-a-day-plus-snacks one - on no extra funding.

"How can you help? If anyone knows any restaurants or cafes that are offering hot food donations we would be extremely grateful to be put in touch.

"We're also looking for donations of snacks and ready-to-eat foods and disposable plates and cutlery.

"Big love to you all in this challenging time."
