Glasgow named third best UK city to live in as a music lover in new study

Glasgow has been named the third best UK city to live in as a music lover in a new study.

The research, conducted by Slingo, analysed various factors including venues, upcoming festivals and concerts, and the average cost of tickets to reveal the best places for music access.

Scotland's biggest city made the top three behind London and Manchester, ahead of the likes of Edinburgh, Leeds and Liverpool.

While offering a high number of upcoming concerts, Glasgow is only playing host to a limited number of festivals compared to the likes of London and Manchester - which has 'likely impacted' the overall live music score used in the study.

Despite that, Glasgow is placed only behind London in terms of gigs on the horizon, with 1,362 - nearly triple that of Edinburgh.

Glasgow was of course named the UK's first UNESCO City of Music back in August of 2008 - an award which recognised the rich musical heritage of a city which is home birthed Belle & Sebastian, Franz Ferdinand and Mogwai to name a few.
