The past decade or so has seen Glasgow earn itself a deserved status one of the most veggie and vegan-friendly cities in the UK, thanks to the fantastic array of vegan cafes and restaurants we are able to choose from.
Vibrant spots like Stereo, Bloc+, The Hug & Pint, Saramago Café Bar and Mono prove a real draw for Glaswegians and people visiting the city alike thanks to the pull of their respective, and thoroughly delicious, meat-free menus.
And such has been the transformation of the culinary landscape in Glasgow that a new survey commissioned by property database Nestpick has listed the city among the top five most vegetarian friendly cities on the planet.

The Vegetarian Cities Index explores the best cities for vegetarians, looking at the deviation of cost of vegetables as well as the availability and rating of its restaurants, and sets out 75 of the world’s best places for vegetarians to live.
With over half the cities located in Europe, Glasgow sits proudly in fifth position ahead of places such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Melbourne and Sydney.

Glasgow achieved a score of 96.84 out of 100 to finish highly on the list, scoring among the best cities on the planet in the 'number of vegetarian restaurants', 'vegetarian restaurant price' and 'number of vegetarian events and festivals' categories.
About the index, Omer Kucukdere, Founder and CEO at Nestpick said: "With more and more people looking to reduce their meat consumption, cities must cater to these needs with diverse vegetarian offerings if they want to attract young talent, particularly Millennials, Gen Z, and the even younger generations to come.
"We hope that this index can inspire vegetarians looking to move abroad to pick the right city for their needs, or even offer travel destination ideas for those searching for the best plant-based gastronomic spots.
"While there are undoubtedly countless cities that are incredible for vegetarians around the world which do not feature in this index due to a lack of available data, we believe that this shortlist offers an excellent springboard for vegetarians looking to move abroad."
Topping the list is London, followed by Berlin, Munich and Vienna just ahead of Glasgow.
