Glasgow named among the top ten most LGBTQ+ accepting cities in the world

Glasgow has been named among the top ten most LGBTQ+ accepting cities in the world.

The city was ranked 9th through new analysis which looked at the level of overall acceptance of the community, the number of gay bars and clubs in the area, and the average rating of these bars and clubs.

Edinburgh came in 7th on the list with both Scottish cities rating higher than London which came in at 18.

Reykjavik in Iceland took the top spot having scored 10/10 for LGBTQ+ acceptance. The city also has the most LGBTQ+ dedicated bars and clubs out of the top cities, with 2.5 establishments per 100,000 people.

In 2018, Glasgow was named Scotland's top LGBT-friendly city.

The Rainbow Cities Index analysed multiple factors including work opportunities, community and social scene, safety and tolerance and dating life, to find the most LGBT-friendly cities in the UK.
