Glasgow mum's tribute to son 'in heaven' after third Christmas without him

A Glasgow mum who has faced her third Christmas without her son has paid a heartbreaking tribute to him 'in heaven'.

Stephanie Bonner shared the emotional post on social media as she spoke of her missing son Rhys.

Rhys was only 19 when he died in 'unexplained' circumstances after he went missing for 15 days from his home in Barlanark on July 24, 2019. His body was later found in marshland in Glasgow.

On the 'Justice for Rhys Bonner' Facebook page Stephanie wrote: "Merry Xmas in heaven. Our beautiful boy.

"We miss you more each breath we take. My first born my whole [world]."

The 38-year-old previously reached out to Lynn Cannon, 49, who was facing her first Christmas without her son Jamie after he disappeared in May this year, the Daily Record reports.

The heartbroken mothers were united in grief to comfort each other.

Mum-of-five, Stephanie previously told the Daily Record: "I wanted to get in touch with Lynn because I know how she feels.

"At least I know where Rhys is, but those 15 days he was missing were the worst days of my life, so I know what Lynn is going through.

"It is the worst pain imaginable to a mother."

Rhys had arranged to meet a friend at McDonald's before he had planned to go and watch football with his dad - but he never turned up.

Police found his half-naked body two weeks after he vanished in marshland between the Easterhouse and Gartloch Village areas of Glasgow on August 8, 2019.

Jamie Cannon, also 19, vanished on his way to college in Saltcoats, Ayrshire, on May 20 this year.

The two women have since formed a bond, with Stephanie calling Lynn to offer her support.

Stephanie said: "Lynn and I spoke on the phone and she just amazes me. She is so strong and holding herself together for her other two boys.

"I ended up breaking down and she was comforting me. It takes someone really special to do that when she is going through her own hell.

"Lynn has asked me if it gets easier with time, but I had to be honest and warn her it just gets harder and harder."

Jamie was last seen at on Thursday 20 May wearing grey jogging bottoms, grey trainers, a blue jacket and was carrying a camouflage backpack.

Any new information on Jamie's whereabouts is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1623 of 22 May.
