Glasgow mum is 'soundest girl in the world' after reuniting student with ID lost in Magaluf

A mystery woman who reunited a student with his ID after it was lost on a holiday in Spain has been revealed as a mum from Glasgow.

Dan Knight, 21, who studies in Sheffield, flew to Magaluf for a holiday with friends on June 13 but was gutted after losing is provisional driving licence during the trip.

However, after returning home, Dan was stunned when a handwritten letter from 'Kirsty in Scotland' - and his ID - arrived at his door.

Dan posted about the sweet gesture on Twitter, with his tweet receiving thousands of likes. He added: "These days you never expect someone to go out of their way to do something for a stranger. It has restored my faith in humanity."

Just days after reading Dan's appeal, Kirsty MacIntyre has now come forward to tell Dan she is glad his ID was returned to its rightful owner, the Daily Record reports.

The 47-year-old, from Glasgow said: "It made my week reading Dan's story - I was gobsmacked. I can't believe he has gone to all this effort in trying to find me to say thank you. I'm just glad I was able to get it back to him."

Kirsty found Dan's ID outside her hotel while she was on holiday with her partner.

She continued: "I found it outside the HM Martinique Hotel where we were staying. I could see it was his provisional licence and I thought it would be a nightmare for him if he had his test booked.

"We looked all over social media for him before posting it so I'm thrilled to see he has got it back."

"My own daughter is 17 and I'd like to think if she ever loses her licence someone would return it back to her.

"It's a total inconvenience losing it when it was so easy for us just to pop it into an envelope and put a stamp on it."

Speaking last week, Dan said: "I returned home last week and my ID arrived a few days later. I couldn't stop grinning when I read Kirsty's note. It was sent with a first class stamp as well.

"It's such a nice gesture. No one knows who she is and I'm desperate to say thank you properly. Kirsty, wherever you are, you are the soundest girl in the world."

After Kirsty came forward, Dan said: "It's lovely that in this day in age someone will go to the level of effort Kirsty has to do someone nice.

"The fact that someone out in Magaluf would go as far to take it home, look after it and post it is really special so I'd like to say thanks again. I'm so grateful."

Now that Kirsty has been tracked down, Dan is looking forward to calling her and thanking her personally.
