Glasgow man robbed of bike after being struck on head with glass bottle

A man has suffered serious injuries after being hit over the head with a glass bottle during a robbery in Glasgow city centre.

The man was reportedly robbed of his bike after being pushed off it and seriously assaulted.

The incident took place at the corner of Midland Street and Jamaica Street around 2:30pm this afternoon.

Midland Street was temporarily closed to allow police to conduct their enquiries. It has since reopened.

Police enquiries remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We received a report of a robbery at the corner of Midland Street and Jamaica Street, Glasgow, around 2.30pm on Friday, 24 December.

"A man was reportedly pushed off his bike and seriously assaulted on the head with a glass bottle. Midland Street was closed to allow initial enquiries to be complete. It has since reopened and enquiries remain ongoing."
