Glasgow man 'lucky to be alive' after car 'flies through red light and wipes him out'

A Glasgow man has claimed he is 'lucky to be alive' after he was knocked down when a driver sped through a red light at a set of traffic lights near the city centre.

Ex-footballer Scott McLauglin says that he was out for a run on Thursday of last week when he was 'wiped out' by the car on North Street near to the M8 motorway.

He posted a photo from a hospital bed showing the injuries he received to his face following the incident, while calling for anyone who may have witnessed it to get in touch with him.

He did so while also noting that the driver gave fake details to someone who witnessed the collision before they left the scene, and as a result called it 'basically a hit and run', the Daily Record reports.

He posted: "As some of you may know I was involved in a bad accident on Thursday night and was knocked down by a car in town while out a run...I’m alive and thankfully I live to tell the tale.

The driver has unfortunately passed on fake details to a witness and we don’t know who he is nor do we have his registration number...so it’s now basically a hit and run.

The incident happened at approximately 7.10pm at traffic lights at North street in Glasgow city centre. The driver flew through a red light and wiped me out...if anyone has any info or were about this area could you please get in touch ASAP."

Glasgow Live contacted Police Scotland, who informed us they weren't called to North Street that evening.
