Glasgow man celebrates making 700 blood donations over 53 years

A Glasgow man has celebrated after making 700 blood donations to his local donor site.

Robert Wylie, from Blantyre, has been giving blood for the last 53 years and made the landmark donation last week.

He told the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service: "It’s the highlight of my day.

"I leave with a very special feeling and I hope to be back here celebrating 800 donations in around 8 years’ time."

Robert posed for a picture with staff at the site, and was greeted with '700' balloons and flowers to celebrate.

Bosses at the service wrote on social media : "Congratulations on your amazing achievement Robert we look forward to seeing you for many more".
