Glasgow man, 35, dies in Glencoe mountain fall

A Glasgow man has died after falling from a mountain in Glencoe.

Cameron Steel, 35, was on the Bidean nam Bian with a walking partner on Saturday (July 25) when police were called to attend at around 3.35pm after he sustained a fall.

Alongside Police Scotland, Glencoe Mountain Rescue and a Coastguard helicopter attended on the northern ridges of the mountain. However, Mr Steel sadly died at the scene and his body was recovered from the mountain.

A statement from Police Scotland reads: "We can confirm that a man has died after suffering a fall while walking in Glencoe.

"Police were called around 3.35pm on Saturday, 25 July, to assist two male walkers on the Three Sisters route.

"Members of the Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team also attended, along with the HM Coastguard helicopter.

"Sadly, one of them had sustained a fall and died at the scene. His body was recovered by the helicopter team.

"He can be named as Cameron Steel, 35, from Glasgow. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

As with all sudden deaths, a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
