Glasgow makes top 10 most vegan-friendly cities in the UK

Glasgow is among the top 10 most vegan-friendly cities in the UK, according to new research.

The study used data from vegan website Happy Cow to find out which cities boast the greatest number of vegan-friendly restaurants relating to the size of the population in each city.

Scotland's biggest city came in at no.8 with 5.07 restaurants per 100,000 people, one spot behind Edinburgh, who have 5.53.

Meanwhile, Brighton has a whopping 14.82 food spots per 100,000 of the population – nearly three times as many.

Considering we were once PETA's vegan capital of the UK, this is quite a drop... But if we're talking in terms of quality over quantity, Glasgow's got plant-based scran in spades. (Not that we're biased or anything...)

Holiday rental firm Holidu, who carried out the research, said: "Home of international football and the famous Glasgow patter, this is the largest city in Scotland. Again, being another student-focused city has resulted in the rise in ever-growing popularity of veganism."

They also recommended vegan spot Suissi, a vegan Asian restaurant that opened in Partick last year and boasts a range of plant-based dishes from Chinese to Thai.
