Glasgow Lives: Delboi, 35, Dennistoun, tattooist

It was getting tattooed that made me want to be a tattoo artist, that and art in general, it was all I was interested in when I was young and art was the only subject I passed at school.

I studied architecture at university after leaving school. That's when I first started getting my own tattoos and started really loving them.

I quit university after two and a half years to pursue being a tattooist. All I did was pester loads of tattooist to get a job in their shop.

Glasgow Lives: Kieren, 32, Finnieston, musician

When I left uni, I worked part-time in a bar for about a year and did nothing but draw all day long, it was those drawings that I showed to people to try and get work and eventually I got an apprenticeship in a shop on Dumbarton Road about ten years ago.

The shop isn't there anymore, but it was amazing from the moment I started and ever since then it’s been my life, everything revolves around tattooing for me, and that’s a good and a bad thing.

I’ve had my own shop in Dennistoun for seven years. It was hard work at first but it’s really good.

Once you get good staff and customers then it all falls into place. We've got great staff and they all get on brilliant, and our receptionist basically organises all of is and everything else, and that's what you need.

The end result is the always best thing about tatooting someone, or getting tatooed yourself because it can be hell getting it done. To see someone love what you have done is amazing and really rewarding.

Glasgow Lives: Naomi, 29, Scotstoun, festival manager at Celtic Media Festival

I’ve been tattooed from people all over the world - from Texas, Poland, England and Glasgow of course.

It’s art, so I like to try and collect from as many artists as I can, but I have some favourite artists who have tattooed me more than once. Tattooing gives my a great life. I'm an artist, I'm my own boss, I can essentially do my job anywhere and I've been able to travel all over the world travel and use that skill.

It's the freedom it gives me, in all of the different ways that it does, that I love most.  @electricartztattoos
