Glasgow Life working to reopen golf courses, tennis courts and bowling greens

Glasgow Life has announced that it is planning to reopen some of its outdoor sports facilities.

The announcement comes after the Scottish Government implemented phase one of easing lockdown, with certain sports such as golf and tennis now permitted.

Safety measures will be introduced such as "appropriate training" for staff and cleaning, any maintenance.

A statement from the Glasgow City Council organisation reads: "Following the Scottish Government’s decision to ease the lockdown on non-contact outdoor sports, we’re working to re-open some of our golf, tennis and bowls facilities as soon as possible.

"The safe operation of our services and protecting our customers and staff remains our priority and we’ll continue to be led by the government’s guidance on Covid-19.

"This includes ensuring that our staff undertake appropriate training and that booking processes, cleaning, any maintenance and required risk assessments are completed before we re-open."

Knightswood and Lethamhill golf courses are expected to be reopened shortly, as well as tennis courts at Kelvingrove, Queen's Park and Drumchapel.

Kelvingrove, Queen’s Park and Knightswood bowling greens will also be reopened.

The statement continues: "All of our outdoor sports facilities will have increased levels of staff when they re-open, to ensure government guidance on social distancing is followed. We expect venue opening will be phased and appreciate everyone’s continued patience."
