Glasgow Kelvin College suspends face-to-face teaching amid coronavirus outbreak

A Glasgow college has suspended all face-to-face teaching until after the Easter break in light of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

Glasgow Kelvin College has asked all students over 70, those who are pregnant and those with high risk and underlying health conditions to return home to continue their studies.

All face-to-face teaching will cease at 4pm today.

The college has urged all staff and students to follow advice from the Scottish and UK Governments and the relevant health authorities - including staying home for seven day if they are showing any symptoms.

A statement issued by the college reads: "This action is being taken as a precautionary measure to safeguard our students and staff. At present, we anticipate that these arrangements will be in place until after the Easter break but this is a rapidly evolving situation and we will continue to review our plans.

"We fully understand that you will have concerns about the impact this will have on your studies, and wish to reassure you that we are working closely with all relevant agencies to provide the very best response possible.

"It is important that students keep up-to-date with the college via our online learning platform, website and social media for the very latest information."

As previously reported by Glasgow Live , the University of the West of Scotland, Glasgow Caledonian University, University of Glasgow and University of Strathclyde have all suspended face-to-face teaching.
