Glasgow internet star tries every flavour of Prime and one 'smells like paint stripper'

A Glasgow-based internet star has gone viral with a video trying out every flavour of popular energy drink Prime which has created a craze online.

Content creator Darren Dowling, better known as Dazza, has gathered a huge following online thanks to his deep-frying antics on his hit show 'Does It Fry?' which has seen him batter everything from Big Macs to Tunnock's Tea Cakes, as well as a starring turn on Come Dine With Me.

And in his latest set of videos, the comedian has set to review every flavour of viral drinks brand Prime, made famous by YouTubers KSI and Logan Paul, which has had people travelling the length and breadth of the country to try to buy.

Fresh from creating videos exposing a Pot Noodle conspiracy and ordering the 'most expensive' Big Mac, as well as appearing on Next Level Chef with Gordon Ramsay, Dazza paid £100 to buy the seven different flavours of the hydration drink.

Lining up the brightly coloured bottles – with Blue Raspberry (Blue), Tropical Punch (Red), Ice Pop (Red, white and blue), Lemon and Lime (Green), Meta Moon (White), Orange and Grape (Purple) – Dazza then sets to try each one, with varying results.

Starting off with the Blue Raspberry, he stated that the videos have been "long-awaited", adding: "I've never tried Prime, I don't know what to expect."

His reviews:

  • Blue Raspberry (Blue) – "Kind of tastes like an Ice Blast if you left it to melt. Bit of a weird aftertaste." – 7/10
  • Tropical Punch (Red) – "Refreshing, quite tasty, up there with the grape." – 8/10
  • Ice Pop (Red, white and blue) – "No a fan, smells like paint stripper and tastes like booze." – 3/10
  • Lemon and Lime (Green) – "Disappointing for a Lemon and Lime." – 4/10
  • Meta Moon (White) – "Smells like an ice pole, I like this one, not as much as grape, I've no idea what flavour it is though." – 6/10
  • Orange - "It looks like flat Lucozade, not what I was looking for, I was expecting better, tastes more like diluting juice." – 2/10
  • Grape (Purple) – "Tastes just like Ribena." – 8/10

Finishing up the star states that his biggest gripe is that, apart from the grape there is no huge punch of flavour from any of the bottles, adding taste-wise he can't work out why "everyone is going mental for them".

Finally, he decided to see what would happen if he mixed all of the flavours into one big glass for a Prime cocktail.

"Smells like an air freshener but not in a bad way," Dazza jokes. "You know when you eat a cheeseburger and you know this is bad for me, but it tastes really nice?

"That's genuinely no bad."

He then offers KSI and Logan Paul a suggestion: "I would make a new flavour, just combine all of them and call it the 'Prime of Primes', I reckon that would sell."
